RPROM Amiga 500 > Rev 6a / Amiga 600 / Amiga 2000 from Rev. 4.3
7-fold Kickstart Switcher fully configurable on PC/Amiga!
RPROM is a ROM emulator for 16-bit Amiga computers (A500, A600, A2000) based on the RP2350B microcontroller. RPROM was developed by Niklas Ekström and Per Bengtsson and we are happy to offer it together with the developers.
The RPROM board has a 4 MB SPI flash memory. Each ROM image is 512 kB in size, so the 4 MB are divided into eight memory locations of 512 kB each. The first memory location is intended for storing the RPROM firmware and configuration data for the RP2350B. The seven remaining memory locations are used to store kickstart / ROM images.
ROM images can be written to the flash memory either via USB on the PC or directly from the Amiga using a program called RPROM.
This RPROM program is also used to change the active slot or to determine which is the active slot.
RPROM is a CLI command that is executed on the Amiga. It has the following subcommands:
- RPROM status outputs status information on the device
- RPROM switch <slot> changes the active slot and restarts the Amiga
- RPROM write <slot> <image> writes the contents of the file <image> into the slot <slot>
- RPROM read <slot> <image> reads the contents of slot <slot> and saves it in the file <image>
- RPROM erase <slot> erases slot <slot>
Please note that ROM images should not be swapped byte by byte (i.e. the .ROM images are required and not the .BIN!).
To change the active slot via keyboard (press CTRL – Amiga – Amiga for 3sec) the reset pin of the RPROM must be connected to pin 11 of Paula or pin 5 of Gary.
This requires soldering skills. This also applies if DiagRom is started from the RPROM. If DiagRom is started without connecting the reset pin, the active slot can only be swapped on the PC.
RPROM does not yet run with an Amiga1200 / 3000 / 4000. This is planned for a later date. Niklas and Per are already working on the firmware. You will then need 2 RPROMs.
For an Amiga 500 Rev 5 or Amiga 2000 before Rev 4.3 an adapter is required.
!Attention! after the purchase you have to credibly prove an existing license for the Kickstart versions if you want us to install Kickstarts (Cloanto or similar)!
If you do not have a license for the Kickstart versions, you can obtain them from Cloanto (meanwhile unfortunately “Plus” version).
