Greaseweazle 4.1 is the latest generation of the well-known USB floppy disk adapters with flux compensation. It allows you to read from and write to floppy disks at the raw data level (Keir calls this the “flux level”). By extracting the raw data from a drive, any disk format can be captured and analyzed—PC, Amiga, Atari, CPC, Amstrad, PDP-11, synthesizers, musical instruments, industrial devices, and many more.
Greaseweazle also supports writing to floppy disks from a variety of image formats (ADF, IPF, DSK, IMG, HFE, …).
Greaseweazle V4.1 is the latest version and updates the V4 design with new features:
- Larger form factor with stronger mounting holes
- Modern USB-C port
- Input Protection (ESD, Overcurrent)
- USB power isolation, which allows the Greaseweazle to be powered via an external power supply along with the drive(s)
Functions:
- Reads and describes 3-inch, 3.5-inch, 5.25-inch, and 8-inch floppy disks (with a compatible drive and cable).
- Buffered outputs for communication with older 5.25-inch and 8-inch hard drives.
- Built-in power connector for direct power supply to most 3.5-inch hard drives.
- The write-protect jumper can be removed to keep valuable vintage discs safer.
- Supports “flippy”-modified 5.25-inch drives.
- Supports hard drive swap detection, as used by Rob Smith’s integration into the WinUAE Amiga emulator.
- 3 user-configurable outputs (e.g., 8-inch interface REDWC signal).
- It can be easily integrated into WinUAE using Rob Smith’s FloppyBridge => https://amiga.robsmithdev.co.uk/winuae#
- 100% factory-tested.
