The PD-64 from SideProjectsLab (SPL) is a compact plug & play power supply as a direct replacement for the original Commodore 64 power supply. The PD-64 is powered by a standard USB PD power supply (not included, but can be ordered as an option) and uses highly efficient switching regulators. This sets the PD-64 apart from other comparable switching power supplies: It not only provides the DC supply voltage (5 V DC / 2 A), but also a genuine, galvanically isolated AC voltage (9 V AC / 1 A, 50/60 Hz) – thus replicating the original power supply unit completely and authentically.
Both outputs are digitally controlled and equipped with a comprehensive protection circuit (electronic fuses, overvoltage and overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown). This ensures that the C64 is supplied with a stable and safe voltage at all times.
Plug&Play – simply plug in and get started. No soldering, no modifications to the C64 required.

Functions & special features
- Direct replacement for the original Commodore 64 power supply – no modification to the C64 necessary
- Genuine, galvanically isolated 9 V AC output voltage (not a simple DC substitute)
- Switchable between 50 Hz (PAL) and 60 Hz (NTSC) for the correct TOD clock (Time-of-Day)
- Highly efficient switching regulators on both outputs (5 V DC & 9 V AC)
- Digital regulation of both supply voltages for maximum stability
- Comprehensive protection circuit: electronic fuses, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, thermal protection
- Power Button Lock: controlled power-on process to protect the C64’s internal fuses
- Status LEDs show the status of both outputs at a glance
- USB-C input (USB-PD protocol, 12 V / min. 2 A required)
- DIN-7 connector for direct connection to the C64
- Compatible with all motherboard revisions of the Commodore 64 and Commodore 64c (including modern replicas)
